PRACTICE AREAS

One of the founding partners of the firm, John D’Agostino has more than 38 years of experience in a wide range of real estate matters. He assists clients with the acquisition, sale, financing and leasing of all types of property, including the acquisition of development and/or air rights. Mr. D’Agostino often works alongside our corporate team in advising clients on joint ventures, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability companies.  He also collaborates with our tax and litigation departments in counseling clients on real estate taxation, real estate disputes and litigation strategy.

Mr. D’Agostino is recognized as an industry leader in condominiums and cooperatives, encompassing commercial, mixed-use and residential projects, including the conversion of tenanted residential buildings. His clients regularly look to him as a trusted advisor with respect to a project’s planning, development, formation and structuring, management, marketing and sales, as well as registration of the project with applicable federal, state and local governmental agencies. From this experience, he has gained a special knowledge in related New York City real estate tax incentive programs, including the 421-a Partial Tax Incentive Program (now known as the Affordable New York Housing Program), the J51 Tax Exemption and Abatement Program and the Industrial Commercial Abatement Program.

In addition to representing major builders, developers and borrowers, Mr. D’Agostino also represents clients before the New York State Department of Law and various other federal, state and municipal agencies. In that capacity, he assists clients in promulgating condominium and cooperative offering plans, apply for no-action letters, make related regulatory filings for residential, commercial and mixed-use projects, including industrial office parks, and the purchase or sale of individual residential and commercial units.
